Yea, that's actually what I was thinking--I'm interested to see horsepower and torque curves for a cam-limited engine on its original manifold, enlarged stock style and then ITBs.

It would really depend on runner length with the ITBs. That being said I've never been impressed with 'stock' 16v's on ITB's, I'd rather have a manifold on the car.

is this an 8V motor? isn't there an economical way to boost compression by swapping in a 16V Block and keeping the 8V head? my GF has a jetta with the sohc 2.0, and it is just begging for 11.5-12.0:1 compression, a cam, and a lightweight flywheel/clutch assembly. Really looking forward to the build up!

So. Um. Yea, I bought another VW Golf. Also white. Also no sunroof. But...no rust. It's a 95 Sport—identical to the one that I owned new and just 164 numbers away on the VIN so it was built that same week.

I'll finish up fixing the rust on the 94 for safety sake and then kicking it loose to work on the 95.

In the end, the 1995 Sport was cheaper and I bought it from a GRM friend here in Florida. Weird how stuff like that works out.

That said, picking up the 94 was a great trip with my dad. The seller was super-nice, I got to see my grandfather (who turned 94 today) and we had a great drive back. So...no harm, no foul.

Same plan, just don't need to worry about rust repair on the new shell.
