Why does the challenge always have to coincide with the race in Atlanta. Every year I am torn, go to the race or go check out the challenge. That said is anyone else going to make the trip to road Atlanta?

Yeah, I have friends who have all moved away all over the country but the one thing we do every year is congregate and pay homage at the temple of speed in Braselton, Georgia. Since I actually have a challenge worthy car for next year I am hoping they can arrange it a weekend before or after PLM. I mean then I'd get 2 straight weekends of awesome
Blame the Gators. The other major scheduling hurdle we have to overcome is the University of Florida's home football schedule. When the Gators play a home game, there simply are no rooms in town, and even the fleabag hotels get $200-250 per night.
So cross your fingers for a Gators home game the same weekend as Petit. That will ensure the Challenge is a different weekend.

do not blame the Trey Burton's blame the SEC and their scheduling. I've noticed it's every other year they coincide...probably because the challenge occurs during the heart of the Gators SEC schedule which goes back and forth for home and away games. Petit just needs to be later in the year so there is less of a wait from that and the Rolex!
With that said. Challenge staff...can you hold onto a medium sized shirt for me at registration. Last two years I've gotten a L or XL and don't conform to my muscular structure all that well.
There will be a GRM booth at Petit also. Steve Chryssos is taking one for the team and missing the Challenge to be at Road Atlanta.
Thankfully, it doesn't happen that way every year. For the last two years I was at both the Challenge and Petit, but the year prior it was Joe Gearin and I at Petit. I missed the bagged Chevy.

Ouch, I remember that article well, prolly the only rat rodesque car that has EVER caused me to pause and 'get it'.
