Not a bad deal for something with Hollywood history - cheezy as it may be: Tokyo Drift

http://volocars.com/1971-chevrolet-monte-carlo-tokyo-drift-movie-car-automatic-350-c-239.htm

The ad in Hemmings has the price down to $10,998. If this thing had the four speed like in movie shots I might have to find an extra garage. The car is probably a little bent from stunts, but I would rock it.

Or the other choices: http://volocars.com/inventory.php?show=celebrity

Do want the F-Bomb. That car is BAD.

No, don't feel bad. I dig those cars, too.

Possibly one of a few. Some are runners, some used just for static shots. Some drive but have no performance parts.

I've been on movie sets, and I honestly don't understand why these things have high value. It's amazing how horrible they generally are in real life.

In fact, I was on the set of The Fast and the Furious.

I can't speak for the FBomb, but most of the cars had 6 or 8 doubles. There were cars for left shots, cars for right shots, cars for interior shots, oh, and you need one that will drive??

They were totally crapped out turds designed to be taken pictures of, nothing more.

In fact, the pictures in the FBomb ad are not all the same car.

But, if y'all want to pay a premium because Hollywood beat the piss out of it, be my guest.

I've prepped cars for movies.

I've done some REALLY bad things to them.

It's very unlikely this was the stunt car.

There were actually 12 of that car. I thought all of 'em at least drove, though.

You'd be surprised how many non-drivers are used in films.

Most in-car in-motion shots are done with non-drivers. Load it on a flatbed so the camera crew can stand alongside. That way the door can be removed for the camera angles, a camera tripod can sit in the engine bay, windshield removed, etc.

Want to blow something up? Drive it off a cliff? Sink it in a river? Why use a driver? That just wastes more parts.

Assuming the car is not a complete hunk of crap, yes there is still a premium. But if they prepped the suspension, gave it a decent motor and a rollcage, I don't think you would be overpaying that much. Of course if you do not "live your life a quarter mile at a time" you just won't get it anyhow.

If it still had the big block in it that was used for the glamor shots in a few magazines, it'd totally be worth it.

Wasn't the FBomb twin turbo and capable of 200mph also? Seems like I remember that from the Hot Rod build.

I may be wrong, but I seem to remember that there was at least one replica built of F-Bomb - Do we know this is the original? If so, and it hasn't been totally thrashed, that price isn't all that bad.

From the description. "THIS PARTICULAR CAR WAS A STUNT CAR; IT HAS A FULL ROLL CAGE, CUSTOM SUSPENSION, WILD WOOD DISC BRAKES, FUEL CELL AND MORE. THERE IS SOME VERY IMPRESSIVE BRACE WORK VISIBLE UNDER THE HOOD WITH HEAVY DUTY SHOCKS SO THE CAR COULD BE JUMPED!"

Yea...no thanks.

I was at Volo earlier this year and IIRC the Monte is beat, beat, beat. The F-Bomb on the other hand was in still pretty good driver shape. The hood wasn't open so I don't know what engine is in there, but it didn't look bad. Still in no way worth 40k though.

If you're ever in northern IL that museum is pretty damn cool.

You'll need to log in to post.
