We are helping Dave Carpatyen of Rally Ready with his amazing effort to not only run Pikes Peak in the Unlimited Class, but to turn a sub-10 minute time.Texas Dave is 23 (I think) years old, has run the Hillclimb 6 times, never finished out of the top three and has won Open Class three times. In a row. He will be using his (very modified) Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution rally car that unlike any of his competitots cars, actually used to be a street car. A long, long time ago. Possibly in a galaxy far far away.
This is an awesome story of a guy from Texas with a car, a handful of credit cards, a sponsor or two, and a lot of 20 hour days with a lot of help from friends and enthusiasts who share the same passion for racing of any type.
Texas Dave (because its easier than butchering his last name all the time) is on his way to Colorado where we will base our operations out of my shop initially, then move closer to the Peak during race week. We have first practice this weekend, then a couple of weeks to really tweek on the car.
