Violet and I were driving in the V70R today and saw what we thought was a nice looking new Volvo getting off the highway in front of us. We pulled up behind it at a light and I noticed that it had a funky logo on the back and vehicle manufacturer plates on it from Washington state (we're in Connecticut). As I got up alongside of it (sorry no photos), we saw a large QR code decal around where you might find a gas cap door on an ICE car.
Obviously, I've never seen one before. Are these things available yet or did I see some kind of preproduction prototype?
I've seen a few of them around up here in the Pacific NW. They are a good looking and clean design.

My location, my experience, and my opinion as well.

They've been on sale for...2 years now? They aren't Tesla common but I see them here and there in California.
Probably my "If I was going to buy one" pick of the current EVs, though I like the new Hyundai hatchback and the BMW i4 as well.
Someone at work has one. I asked her about it and she said she had to go to New York to pick it up - no local dealers yet. It's pretty cool looking.
I've seen one around Burlington, VT.

It may be an East Coast / West Coast thing.
We were late to the Tesla Party too. They're common here now, but I think you still need to buy them in New York. Something about state laws on how dealerships can operate.
Not many dealers in the USA, but there is one in CT so better chance of seeing one there than most places.
Website shows there is one available for immediate delivery in DFW with the "Performance Package".
Based upon the horrifying build quality and reliability of late model Volvo products, I think I would be very scared of one of these. I absolutely love my V70 but it came from a time when a car was less complex and they engineered it like a tank.
New ones have all sorts of electrical and electronics issues, and those are the gas versions. I can't even imagine what would go wrong first on one of these.

In reply to Loweguy5 (how many cars will I buy this month before my wife leaves?) :
I have 2017 and 2019 Volvos. I would say the build quality on both is excellent, and I have had zero reliability issues.
They are complex, agreed - but so are all modern cars.
They have a dealer near my office. They are good looking cars.
One of my cousins who lives in New Hampshire recently bought a Tesla had to pick it up in New Jersey for one reason or another..

To be clear, I love the design and want to trust the newer ones. It sounds like you have 2 that are performing as you expected and I'm glad to hear it. However the average owner doesn't have that experience.
Before I returned to auto lending I worked in a very large company that offers vehicle service contracts (extended warranties), and our payouts on late model Volvos were only rivaled by Jaguar and Maserati.
They are beautiful cars and if I had any faith in them I would own a new or nearly new V60. The interior and exterior designs are fantastic and they feel very premium. Volvo just needs to focus on having all of it work as intended for all of its buyers.
