I'm picking up a few pieces of 1/8th polycarbonate this afternoon. The guy has more than I need, so I can grab a bit extra for anyone in SE Michigan if you commit to take it ASAP. Sheets are 16" x 84", if that's wide enough for your Challenge car side windows, or whatever. Edit: I suppose you would like a price, too......$25 each.
Research that. I seem to remember that your side windows can't be lexan/polycarbonate.

Drag cars run the stuff all the time, just look at any Super Stock race car. But I'll check anyway now that you've introduced some doubt in my mind.
Edit: Side windows can be any shatterproof material 1/8" thick. That's from the NHRA rule book.
We use them in the drag car, but everyone does. They can spider over time if they're in tight with vibration.
In reply to grover :
What do you use to fasten the windows to the car? Rivets, nuts and bolts, sheet metal screws? I don't want the stuff to crack around the attachment points.
Now I want to know how that got into my mind.
In reply to Stampie (FS) :
i put it there. because i can. so next time last call rolls around and you're thinking "no condom, no problem!", yeah, i put that there too.

I had poly as a short windscreen attached with sheet metal screws and wide "trim" washers. Worked OK for years.

i'll take one please. paypal? or cash in person? I'm in canton 48187. we should hang out.

With you I'll always use a condom.
I'm in for one as well. Might be 2 weeks before i can come grab it though, but could probably run Angry's back to his place on the way from yours if we can work it out.
In reply to DeadSkunk (Warren) :
Scews and windshield gasket stuff, rounded head screws work best. Start in the middle and work out like anything else that needs to not warp.

I could probably facilitate a deadskunk to angry relay on the 9th just waiting to hear back from warren
I think it's funny that someone from 2.5 hours away is volunteering to deliver a part to me that is not more than 30 minutes away. :-)
OK guys, I just returned from picking up some for me and Mr. Mofo and didn't see your replies before I left, BUT !!! the guy still has three pieces and might be able to get more. I'll see if I can get his phone number and you can contact him directly. He lives in Redford Township so it makes sense for Angry and Classic to get it directly. If either of you uses Facebook Marketplace just look up "polycarbonate" and you can contact him that way.

Edit: It's also slightly thicker than 1/8. I measure it @ 4mm with my genuine, plastic calipers.
Edit #2: He has three sheets left. Angry could grab all three and Classic pick yours up from him.
Polycarbonate windows anyone?!?
Get it your damn self.
I've PMed the guy's phone number to Angry and Classicjackets has a FB message.
In reply to Olemiss540 :
They're both closer to the guy than I am.

He'll be stopping at my place for a parts exchange anyway.

Just a poor attempt at humor is all.
In reply to AngryCorvair (Forum Supporter) :
If you want this stuff you have to phone him before 6:00
PM. He has other people lining up and will sell it if he doesn't hear from you ASAP.
AngryCorvair & Classicjackets
OK. Latest and last update. I committed to buy the stuff and I'll get it from him after his hunting trip is over. It will be at my place in Dexter and you can come and get it from me. I didn't ask when he'll be back, so I'll contact you after he contacts me. After Covid and at the next SE Michigan GRM meet I expect a beer.

Some of my cars came from the factory with polycarbonate windows. 1963 TVR had that big rear window in plastic (which can cloud after years exposed to UV). Had to install rear strapping to keep the window from leaving when the fibreglass roof would lift at high speed. Ditto for the windshield.
Jensen CV8 also had rear side windows in plastic - odd given that the windshield was an expensive glass one made for a production run of only 499 cars.

So let it be done!
