Two years ago, my brother and I took our Chop Top Honda CRX from Chicago to Miami. It was fun and stupid and we decided more people should do it and Chop Top Challenge was born.
Last year, we chopped the top on my Toyota Previa and competed with 9 other teams for the first ever Chop Top Challenge.
This year, we will be piloting this incredible example of 80s automotive brilliance (my kids approve). One week until we chop the top and the Challenge starts April 1. This year we go Chicago to Las Vegas.
No windscreen or wipers doesn't get you a ticket? Looks cool though.
Can I ride along from Chicago to St. Louis? Or help chop the top?

In some states no windscreen is illegal but everyone is wearing helmets so we haven't had any trouble.
You should join us for the pre challenge party at The Silent Funny in Chicago on the evening of Thursday March 30. There will be beers and live bands.

Thanks for the invite! I'll try my best to be there!
I'm interested in going to the pre-event party. Is there a secret code to attend? I live 2 miles away from Secret Funny.

Maybe it's just me, but I am saddened to see what appears to be a Fiero in decent shape knowing that it's scheduled to be cut up. Am I the only one bugged by this?

In reply to ncjay:
I'm firmly in the camp of "it's your car, do what you want with it."
However, some advice... once the top is cut off, don't open the doors EVER. Lest you wind up with two Fiero halves. Any other car, weld the doors shut. Plastic doesn't weld so well.
I agree with ncjay but then I remember all the pain and anguish my wife's mid-80's Pontiac gave me so I will gladly bring over some sawzall blades.

Starting in West Garfield? That will be the riskiest part of the trip!

It would be fun to join in with my rusted-as-E36 M3 Outback Sport, but my schedule time is already locked in. I couldn't chop the top anyway, with it having such a heavily rusted undercarriage.
I'd have to go bottomless.

I'm on the other side of the fence. I'd like to see them all cut up. Berk those things.
So once you get there, what then? Drive them back or sell them to Lemons teams? I'd kind of like to see some sort of fiery conclusion - like take them all to one of those places where you get to fire off machine guns, and.....
