I agree completely. But if for some reason FS did outrun CP (which didn't happen), it would essentially mean that adding power and lightness to a Mustang or Camaro makes it worse.
You may want to consider that most CP cars are considerably older, 79 Camaro this year and 65 Mustang the last 3. How good would a stock 79 Camaro or 65 Mustang do in FS? Probably not very good, most likely DFL. The rules do allow for upgrades which helps keep the older cars still competing. That is one thing that I really like about CP, you don't have to have the newest, hottest car.
So far no one has done a new Mustang or Camaro in CP level of prep. When someone does, it will be interesting to see how it does.

I don't think the fifth-gen Camaros will be any threat to CP, since they're so heavy. And I wonder if an S197 Mustang could be made light enough to compete in CP. Yes, the newer cars have better suspensions, but they can't out-tire our out-power the current crop of CP contenders.

It's not just the weight, Will. The newer Mustangs and F-body cars are physically much bigger than their earlier counterparts; that's a huge disadvantage when hustling a car around a tight autocross course.

Lol Ben Martinez's car.
I'm sad the nasty DSP MX6 didn't show up.
OOOO - Capt, love the Mk 1 MR2! How about a quickie thumbnail description - engine, etc?
(Another Mk 1 owner)
i saw a cool mustang II out there this morning. didn't have my camera on me though.
I placed 33 out of 39 so I accomplished my stated goal of not being dead last.
Its funny you guys are posting ben martinez's car. I am good friends with his codriver, Todd. This was also Todd's first trip to the nats. He was not happy with his performance, so as friends we made him this "sticker" to cheer him up...
The MR2 also made a brief appearance in XP as dwayne komush took a run in it after his little starlet needed the tender ministrations of the fire extinguisher.

That's Rick Ruth's "MiniBoss". Had it for years... He also happens to be the Guru that creates and updates the PAX "RTP" index every year. If you see him...thank him...he's a great guy.
