Porsche 996, 997, 991 Lower Control Arms

I've been looking to replace the front control arms on my 996 turbo and have a question.

I haven't been able to find the OEM suppliers (TRW and Lemforder) for sale for my application, the other brands don't have the most positive reviews and Porsche wants double to triple the price for theirs. After doing quite a bit of research it appears that the 991 may shares the same part as the 996 and 997. A few websites I have stumbled across have the 991 part number listed under the 996 section, but when I call to confirm the parts guy doesn't think that is correct. It also appears that aftermarket bushings are shared between all three generations for a little more supporting evidence.

I know we have a few other 996 owners on the forum and was wondering if anyone can confirm this, or point me to a place that has the TRW or Lemforder control arms in stock.

A call to Tarrett would probably clarify this issue.  They are all about Porsche suspensions.  

Have you looked at Porsche part numbers?

Porsche will use the same part and give it a new part number when a new model comes out.  If the part looks the same but has a different number then it is probably is the same.  Maybe look at pictures on ebay ads that have the part number.

If you're replacing the lower front control arms then the obvious answer is to get OEM 996 GT3 lower control arms as they're adjustable for camber.

I wouldn't put any other thought into it past that.

I put a set from one of the cheap brands (pelican won't show me which one it was for some reason but they were ~$90 each) on my 986 boxster (should be the same as the non-adjustable 996 part). They haven't been on the car super long but they've put up with rallycross abuse just fine thus far. Would buy again.

Those aren't the GT3 adjustable ones.  They're far more expensive, I see them selling *used* for $600-800 on Rennlist

996 PN: 996-341-053-17

991 PN: 991.341.053.01

First three of the part number is the chassis, last two are the revision, it makes sense that they would reset the revision when going from the 996 to 991 parent number.

Exactly.  If it looks the same it probably is.  The tarett press-in inner bushings are nice.  Might want to check those out while you have everything taken apart.
