Well guys if you don't know I got the Porschura on the road about a week before I left for Afghanistan. It is running on the stock 1996 ECM now and I am regretting that choice a little. I have a lot more confidence with wiring now and the car is assembled, so MSquirt sounds less overwhelming now. Looking back it was probably the right thing to work on this project in stages. Even if it feels like I am doing parts of it twice, or spending a little more money. So now I need Subaru / Megasquirt info over here and I cant get on the megasquirt board. We have a lot of sites blocked here, but thank god not this one (I can even get on Jalopnik at times )
The motor is from a UK market 1996 WRX. It is OBD1 and coil on plug.
-What happens with the 2 cam sensors?
-Can I use the stock crank pickup?
-Will I need new coils?
-Is there any advantage to going MSquirt III (I don't see needing it)?
I have an extra engine harness, so I am thinking I would like to build a 100% new harness to lay over the top of the old one. That way after it is up and running I can just pull the old harness and ECM out.
nothing to add but thank you for your service.

KJ there are lots of guys here that really give up a lot in the name of service. I am just a contractor trying to make the soldiers living conditions a little better. We are here for the Soldiers and I am really happy to be here doing this work. I sort of regret not joining the Military and this has given me an opportunity to help. Where I am today is very nice, but there are places where having a sense of duty can go a long way in keeping you sane/happy. When people are getting hurt, money is not enough. Leaving a wife after 30 days of marriage makes me really see what the families give up to.
Keep your head down (be careful).
As for your questions, I am not a subaru person, but I've got 3 MS'ed vehicles, running MS1: 4AGE 20 valve, 22R, HD Sportster. I'm gonna take some SWAGs here: Coil on plug will be fine and you can use the existing coils. I use 97 Camry waste spark coil packs on the 20v. Triggering may take some experimentation, or you can probably find someone that has done it. You can use the existing crank and other sensors. I don't know what your two cam sensors do, but you should be able to use one or the other or both if you need them. With the crank sensor, you probably won't need them, especially if you run the CoP's in Waste Spark (fire 2 at a time).
