I finally finished my first post on the Portland Historic Races from Sunday. There's 36 pictures of on-track action. I'm working on the paddock shots now.

Awesome pictures!
I can help you out with some of the ones you were unsure of, the 5th picture is a Triumph GT6, the one near the end with the 356 is a MGB, and the one with the Cortina is a TVR Grantura (or Griffith, I'm not sure, but someone here will know) and the BRE Datsun is a 510.

The yellow car chasing the Porsche is a Corvette.
P71, I think the Can Am car in P1012701.JPG is a Frisbee, from the `80s Can-Am "revival". It was built (as were most of the 2nd gen Can Am series cars) from a F5000 open wheeler. In the case of the Frisbee, I think it was the Lola T332.
The real gem in P1012702.JPG is the #67 car. That's the old Jim Busby Lola T616/Mazda Group C2 car. One of those won Le Mans.

I think the red one in P1012581.JPG is some sort of TVR. And dude...that's the same BRE livery 510 as in your other pic behind it.

The unidentified, extremely fast, red formula car (with the Player's logo) is a March Formula Atlantic; I'm leaning towards a 75A.
They were the "had to have" cars in FA and were driven by the likes of Gilles Villeneuve, Bobby Rahal and Keke Rosberg before they faded into obscurity.
Hey, thanks for the car clarifications! I'll update them here in a bit. I'll need you guys a lot for the paddock shots.
Cool! Thanks for sharing the pics! That IMSA race was awesome, with the Eagle Toyota and the Porsche battling every lap and the Frisbee CanAm car trying to chase them down. The big bore production-based race was timed such that the rain started on the pace lap, which meant that half the field pulled off before the race started, but the Shelby Mustangs that stayed out made for an amazing show...the sound of those high-revving, totally-built small blocks wound out as the wheels spun and they tried to chase down the leading 911 RS!!! The Porsche had the grip to maximize in the rain.
The infield autocross is usually put on by Oregon Rally Group, and is always a really good time (and a good fundraiser) even if it isn't very well publicized.
~Here's~ an in-car video from that event (not mine....I was running the PVGP the same weekend)
Great Pictures P71. I looked through those and the ones from the AutoX's too.
Two things I loved about the video above.
1) The guy's mustache in the video. It made me chuckle because he kept such a serious face.
2) The "Alfa lean" in the turns = priceless
Thanks everybody, I've updated all the picture descriptions. I've got some more on-track stuff, but the pictures are blurry or of the same cars over and over again or the huge fields.

Check out the new CM. Bobby Ray went and got his back, and joined SVRA or something. Nice interview with him.

I'm glad to hear an old guy's good for something other than Honda fodder in ST...
Nicely done, thanks for sharing that.
I got the first paddock shots posted. I need help with some identities again!

What was the subject car in the video aeronca posted? It had a nice sound. Too bad he missed a shift and bent valves.

Thanks maroon. I figured I had Chinetti's first name wrong. Looks like these are hard for you guys too!

Why is everything so wet?
OH, Pacific Nothwest.....
Looks like fun!
Funnily enough, that was the first day of rain in about 2 months, ending a drought for us!

P71, I've been drinking a lil' bit..here's a few things now, more later.
P1012556.JPG is the Busby Lola T616s. One of those cars won its class at Le Mans. C2 was the international version of "Camel Light" GTP cars in the US.

P1012574.JPG looks like Danny Ongais' Interscope Lola T600.

P1012564.JPG is indeed one of the Tyrell F1 cars that helped Jackie Stewart win the world championship. The chassis is the 003. You can have one on your bookshelf with a little work:

P1012567.JPG is "historic" for another reason..at least for me personally. The Wynn's sponsored team was one of the worst backmarkers in the field. We used to call it "The World's Slowest 962" back when I was a Corner Worker. Search youtube for any mid-to-late 1980s GTP race, and you'll see that thing was a "moving chicane" in those days. In the pic you've taken, it's got a Shelton Racing sticker on it now-I'd bet with the Shelton Bros. working on it, it cuts faster laps now than it did back then.
P1012585.JPG is another March 75.
I did a little research into the Porsche I dissed before I posted this thing...the Wynn's 962 was campaigned by Hotchkis...who, IIRC were pretty successful in making performance parts for US muscle cars, and decided to attempt to "reach" the sportscar market by going straight for the top instead of trying a little SCCA club action first..
I can't find a link to their history, but their current catalogue is still very full of parts for US cars. They ain't bad...I wonder what they might have for your P71? They've been trying to get American cars to act like imports for 40 years, IIRC.
I really miss the historic races. Back when I had my Porsche I was a member of the local PCA chapter and always had a blast going to the races and wandering around looking at the cars in the pits.
I remember one day coming to the track just after some guy totaled his Ferrari.
Thanks Corrado! I really appreciate the pointers and I enjoy your first-hand stories!

Image #p1012569 is a Ginetta -G12(?):
http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_uow8aospp7E/SmC873sBXyI/AAAAAAAAATg/bbqPZPfd5es/s1600-h/P1012569.JPG" />
Numbers 2551 and 2563 are both Lola T290s (2 liter sports racers); image 2517 is their older sibling, a T212.
Number 2522 is actually a Chevron B19, another 2 liter sports racer and was direct competition to the Lola T290.
Number 2694 is not an ex-F1 car, but actually is a Chevron F/A car, probably a B35. You caught an earlier chassis (probably a B29) in number 2690.
Number 2731 is an earlier Chevron 2 liter sports racer, a B16. It's also one of my all-time favorite lust-mobiles.
Number 2633 is definitely not an Eagle Weslake, but the nose cone design is quite similar. Don't know what chassis it is, but it's probably a mid-60's F2 car.
Number 2721 (3rd gen Camaro) looks like the 1986 Protofab car that won the Trans-Am championship with Wally Dallenbach, Jr. driving.
I'm loving the shots of the F/A and small-bore sports racers! The F/A cars remind me of witnessing G. Villeneuve and B. Rahal battling head-to-head at Rd. Atlanta in 1975. Epic stuff and their talent was obvious.
GREAT PICs, P71!
Keep em coming!
Great shots, P71!

oldsaw, isn't that old red 2ltr sports racer Brian Redman loves so much a B16? I still recall him being out with the Can Am & Group 7 cars at the Mitty years ago, and lapping the field with it.
