I'm sure I'll get bashed for this question, but here we go....
Is it possible to remove the front 1/2 shafts from a WRX or standard Imperza and make it RWD? I assume some sort of mod's will need to be made inside the trans. I'm thinking of the 2001-2006 cars, manual trans. I'll then need a LSD for the rear diff, but I'll assume thats available in the aftermarket.
No, I'm not planning a drift car.
Probably only once. I don't think you can do it three times...
My access to GRM shut down for a few also, I may have done this in my response to another thread
As Toyman01 says, it is doable once. My local tuner suggested doing exactly that to a WRX when I was looking for a track toy as it supposedly improves on-road handling massively.
Unfortunately the place has shut down so I can't get any more info

Saker cars Australia has a kit to make the awd trans fwd for mid engined applications, but I have heard of something similar making the trans rwd. Essentially I think you'd want to lock the center diff and you're off. Make it a 4wd trans, remove the front halfshafts, and go. Or wait until a few Toyobaru's end up in junkyards and take their transmissions.

My mind just blew. Seriously. I've got some many potential projects running through my mind I can't think straight.
Think I could get a bellhousing to adapt a 13B to a EJ20 transmission?
Sorry for the multiple posts. The screen would show "timed out" so I hit post, then "timed out"... It led me to believe that the post hadn't posted, but later posted 3 times...Really, I wasn't trying to post whore!

This means that a Porsche Boxster with a trashed engine.... could take the drive train from a WRX, right? I mean... RIGHT???
This means if I could make an adapter plate for a 13B-scooby transmission, I'd have a twin turbo, mid engine, rotary '83 Corolla wagon.

I believe that you can either do it with one of the kits that is available or you can do the more ghetto method of welding the center diff and removing the front drive axles or something like that! You would probably want to replace the rear end because I hear they do not last long with twice the power being sent to them.
I believe Sport Compact Car had an article about this a few years ago, it may still be in the archives somewhere!

Correct. I was thinking the same thing. Maybe Google "drift Subaru" and see if they give any hints to RWD conversion.
Here's a start:

yep, it can be done by welding the center diff. NASIOC has the details.

I guess that's cool too.
Although, come to think of it, an SVX-powered Boxster would be pretty sweet.
yeah, this has all been done before, you just need to do a google search for rwd wrx and you'll find posts on the suby forum. funny thing being that if your going to convert a wrx, you will already have a lsd in the back end...
why not instead of ruining a perfectly good car, start with one that has a blown engine and stuff a v8 rwd in there, lol...
