I caught the last stop of the HRM Power Tour, in Arlington (or was it Grand Prairie?) Texas. Saw some interesting cars there.
Yes, my Valiant fit right in. Sort of:
The Optima Battery folks had a qualifier for the Ultimate Street Car event, which included an open road race AMC Concord (Joel Hannig raced this in the Big Bend Open Road Race in April, replacing his unlimited '62 Polara),
… a tube-frame hot rod,
and a Crown Vic.
Elsewhere at the stop:
This is more the GRM style, I think. V8 Austin Healey:
Oh, by the way, what and why is this? Yes, it seemed to be Miata-based.
More pics HERE.
Hot AMC Concord and Healey are quite interesting!
A bunch came through town last week. It was an almost steady line for over 6-hours. There were a few people camped out on the sidewalk watching the whole procession even.
I had the pleasure of attending the HRPT in 2010 and 2011 as both times it came here to Kentucky. Amazing stuff, and so cool to see cars in person that you've seen online and in print.
Always worth going to.

I was a long hauler in 2003. 3000 miles with 4000 of my closest hot rod buddies.
It was exhausting. But very cool.
I visited one of the PowerTour stops where they came through Harrisburg a few years ago. I'd love to give it a shot some day.

If you ever do it, DON'T TOW A TRAILER, no matter how cool.
I towed a stainless steel teardrop trailer. Extremely cool looking, but it meant I was always parked in the back (to get 2 spaces in a row), therefore the last to leave each venue, and then the last to arrive at the next venue which put me... in the back again.
Kind of like a1500 mile long traffic jam.
The car that's three cars down from you looks like it has a fresh fender bender. Power Tour incident?

I didn't get the story from them, but it looked fresh.
The couple who parked next to me (not visible in the photo) were Long Haulers - on a motorcycle.
Our club ran the autocross for the Power Tour in Muskegon, Michigan. I designed the course. It was a pretty small lot, but the participants seemed to enjoy it. Our pictures and videos are on our Facebook page.
Most of you have probably seen the videos of the CTS-V Wagon whose side airbags went off at the finish line.
I normally don't like anyone messing with the old Healeys, but that one looks quite appealing!
I'm all for the HRPT. Hot rods that actually get driven...what a novel concept. Really kicking myself for not checking it out when it was painfully close to me.
Some of you at the Power Tour (or also the Mitty) may have seen the "Roadmaster"......an MGB-GT with a Buick 455 V8. Pretty sure my friend, Rick Ingram was driving it (or might have been Curtis Jacobson).
The car was built by a group of MG guys who formed a non-profit foundation called the British American Deviant Automotive Sportscar Society - (BADASS). Everyone in the group has (or will) drive the car in a selected journey around the US and Canada (for the purpose of educating young folks about how cool old Brit cars are). The car will be eventually be sold (perhaps auctioned) and the proceeds donated to a charity to be determined at that time.

455 in an MGB-GT? BADASS indeed.
My brother and I are planning on doing the tour as soon as we get the V8 into his Dakota convertible. Hoping for 2014.

Some of our friends, Terry and Amy Fair of Vorshlag were there in their ESP Mustang. Sounds like they were near the top.
