How does the upgraded suspension help or hinder the Miata in the snow?
We now know why snowbirds fly south for the winter.
After taking a few months off to rest after battling at the 2010 Tire Rack SCCA Solo Nationals, our Mazda MX-5 is heading to Florida. We're leaving behind the snow and cold temperatures of Northern Indiana--Tire Rack’s headquarters--for the 2010 Performance Racing Industry Trade Show in Orlando.
Five inches of lake-effect snow are already on the ground, with more on the way. Our Extreme Performance Summer tires aren’t designed to work in the snow (and may even crack from the cold temperatures), so we opted to fit a set of proper winter tires for the 20-hour drive.
Look for our MX-5 on display at the show. And be sure to stop by the GRM display in booth No. 1314. We promise to clean off all the snow.
I wish I could go! Nice job driving in the snow instead of towing the car. I assume you took the sticky tires in a support vehicle?
