Yeah, I know there's a 'pull' type SLAVE cylinder out there. But I'm looking for a pull type MASTER cylinder. None of the usual suspects appear to have such an animal. Any ideas out there?

Cable clutch

I'm really curious what you're using this for, I guess some weird situation where space is limited?

Depending on how much volume and what bore you can make do with... look at kart master cyls. My son has a CRG with a pull type that is really trick.

EDIT: I just wandered out tothe garage and looked at it... it really is a push type with a pivot shaft and bearing to reverse the action. Sorry.

Since I posted this, some spirited Googling turned up an AP Racing CP 6465.

The RX7 motor going in the Jensenator has a 'push' type hydraulic clutch. The Jensen Healey has a pull type cable clutch. Due to the difference in 'throw' and leverage I was going to (and may still) go with a cable release mechanism with a bellcrank to change the direction and travel. There's not enough room in the bellhousing to move the pivot to the far side of the input shaft to have the cable work directly on the release fork.

I have also thought about doing the 'pull' type M/C but wasn't able to Google one until now. Problem I see is that the J-H clutch pedal has a 1 1/4" 'throw', the RX7 slave cylinder has approximately 5/8" 'throw', and the AP master cylinder has 1" travel (call it effectively 7/8", I don't want it to bottom all the time). I'm wondering if I can make all that work without completely mutilating the cast aluminum pedal box.

EDIT: I see foxtrapper found the same thing. What kind of madness are YOU planning?

Good morning Gents,

I am a longtime fan of GRM, but have never posted on their forum. My company is in development right now on a pull-style master cylinder set-up. We do a ton of hydraulic clutch business and have found a few applications where a pull set-up would be much easier to deal with than the traditional push type deal.

I see that AP (different AP) makes a pull style master in several different bore configurations but they are over $400 just for the master. Yikes.

Our new product will be cable over hydraulic and will be able to be yanked on my almost any OE cable, or by a rod when necessary. We have the prototype finished but need some time to go to production.

Let me know if there is some continuing interest in the part so I can keep you updated.

Bringing this guy back from the dead. This is the first hit on Google when searching for pull type masters. As of late there have been tons of these AP pull masters on Ebay for well under $100. Only gotcha is none of them have the reservoir inlet fitting. AP is very proud of this fitting as they want ~$75 for it and don't seem to stock it any where.

We purchased one for a hydraulic clutch conversion in a Ferrari 308 and machined our own inlet fitting.
