Figure at least a handful of us are using these at this point and are able to provide some feedback.
I purchased a a BL5000-SLX from a good friend who had used it a few times and moved across the country. He handled the original setup.
I've used it several times at this point and believe its not functioning properly and haven't been able to find similar experiences or info across the net.
When lifting the frames, unloaded or loaded, are they suppose to hold hydraulic pressure when you release the UP button? Meaning, do the frames stay in place when you let go of UP? I'm pretty confident that they are suppose remain in place and only lower themselves when you press the DOWN button, allowing hydraulic pressure back into the reservoir.
In my current experience, I have to lift the car and frantically run around the car to flip the lock-out feet before the jack sinks back on the lock points....Seems quite unsafe and like I have a failure somewhere.
I have gone back through and primed the pump again as well as bleed the system multiple times. Air cylinders seem to hold air without issue.
Any ideas? Will call tech support monday.
Yes, they should stay up for a long time and only go down when you press the down button.
To me it sounds like when you press the down button it opens up a return valve to drain the fluid back to the reservoir. Maybe that valve is sticking open a little bit.
I would cycle it a few times with the weight of a car on them, maybe that "unsticks" something.
Agreed, this is not normal. Ranger tech support is pretty solid, though, I'd definitely reach out to them.
Agreed too, this isn't normal. Mine (same model) is holding the vehicle at the height where I let go of the 'up' button for quite a while.

I will give tech support a call monday and see what they say, hopefully its still under some kind of warranty.
So, strangely enough, I fooled around this past weekend and lifted a car up to the second height lock.
Following one full up and down cycle with a car in place, it will now hold the car at any height without sinking.
I'm guessing there must have been an air bubble trapped in there that wouldn't find its way out in normal unloaded bleeding, but it appears to be functioning correctly now.
So an Italian tuneup, basically :) Glad to hear it's working!
