I live in Thailand, and a friend of mine here just posted about a sale of chassis #11, Z-Tune GTR selling to an American buyer for just under $2,000,000.00. Final price was 70,000,000 Baht. With only 20 of these built, they don't really ever change hands. The seller also owns chassis #18.

So far, I don't think anyone outside of Thailand is aware of the sale. It's a monumental price for anything JDM, although the 2000GT still holds the record at just over $2.5M.

GT500 spec engine, same as the factory backed 24 hours of Nuremburg engine. Lots of other special things of course. Check out the GTR Registry for details https://gtr-registry.com/z-tune.php

Super cool car, even if the price is eye-watering.

That's a lot of money for a Datsun.

I really need to know what the buyer does for a living and see if I can learn to do that.

Wonder what's going to happen to it until it's road legal in the US? That will be what, 2031?

I don't think this is the kind of car that gets driven to the market.

It will either come in early as Show or Display, but more likely will stay in Asia until it is legal. I don't know any other details, friend of a friend sold the car.

I've read a couple articles disputing that amount, but I'm sure it's still a high watermark. https://carbuzz.com/news/somebody-paid-almost-2-million-for-a-r34-nissan-skyline-gt-r

UPDATE 08/22:CarBuzz has spoken to the vehicle's owner and confirmed the price paid was misreported in initial news reports.

70M baht was the original number bandied about, 2M USD equivalent. The owner has said on his IG he didn't pay near that much though, and don't see why he would lie downward. I'd bet in the $600,000 USD range at least though.

In reply to fatallightning :

It's Thailand, he paid way more than $600k. $300k gets you a used 911, or a new M3. 300% tax on luxury cars, and that extra money follows them when they are sold. BRZs are ~$45k used. And you cannot import older cars, so the ones in the country now are the only ones that will be here. I have no doubt he paid over $1.5M, which is still way lower than the $2M reported.

BMWs with JZs are cheap though. ~$6k for 400hp. E36/E34 mostly
