How big a changes did Renault make to turn the normal 5 into the turbo model other then putting the engine in the middle and body work changes? I am looking for more subtle things like were there suspension geometry changes and etc.

I think I read on one of the recent BaT listings that they were basically completely different cars.
I think it's basically a tube-frame race car with something that looks like an R5 body plunked over top. The roof panel and the windows may interchange, but not a lot of the rest will.
I know I know! The LeCar is a huge pile of crap, and the R5 Turbo isn't!
So get out the big can of Krap-B-Gone and go to it...

Once again, the mid engined, Acura V6 Civic S...
If you can dream it, you can build it. And you don't have to limit yourself to Renaults.
Le Cars are getting pretty hard to find. Not saying that makes them unsuitable for such a conversion, just that a donor will be hard to find.
Funny how much that looks like an R5. I always wanted to do that with a 2nd gen crx

So if a Le Car came along for cheap I would basically being hacking the body off and building a tube frame chassis to put on in order to create a replica.
Sounds like fun to me, other than the whole... it's a Le Car thing. But I'd look the other way if something suitably ludicrous was done to it.

THAT IS AWESOME!!!!

And, since LeCars were largely biodegradable, "hacking the body off" just means "slamming the doors really hard a few times until it collapses". Of course, since the body was the part you'd be needing, I recommend you go the Honda route.

THAT would be epic. Most of the ones north of the mason dixon have rusted into oblivion though.
