I started racing this Corvette to get my SCCA license.  I paid $300 for the car. And $100 for 8 new Goodyear bBlue streaks. They were at least 5 years old since it had been that long since Goodyear had gone over to slicks and these were treaded tires.
No Engine no transmission or radiator. Or seat etc.  it actually was a 64 rather than the 67 vents used.
Note the Roll Bar  rather than a rollcage.   That was allowed with a SCCALog book  and the stamped numbers corresponding.
The real key was I got all the parts from another Corvette racer. He was allowed to race by his mother only if new tires, brake pads etc.  we're used for every weekend.   I was happy to get his cast offs.   In exchange I did some work when his two professional mechanics were overwhelmed.
He was brutal on his equipment.   He went racing with one engine in the car and 3 in the ramp truck.  1 M22 gearbox and 2 spares. 1 spare rear end. Etc etc etc.  they considered it a successful outing if he could still drive it up the ramp truck at the end of the weekend.
My engine,  tranny, etc were his cast offs.  I'd take apart his junk and find bitsa whatever that were still useable,  2 connecting rods from this engine, 6 pistons from that,   Etc.  Magnaflux them and reassemble into one workable engine, tranny etc.

He liked to qualify up with the big blocks  so his engines were pretty snarfy  but he considered them disposable.
