I just put new radial tires on my 20' dual axle open trailer. The sidewall info says max pressure 60 PSI and max load of 2150 pounds. I'm guessing the trailer and car weigh just under 5000 pounds. With my bias tires I ran 45 PSI (rated for 50 max)and the tires wore badly in the center like they were over inflated. I'm thinking with radials I should have a little more "squish" than the bias had and may want to keep them pretty close to max pressure for longevity. What do others run for pressures in radials?
i run a little under max. the bias ply trailer tires all go bald in the middle and are otherwise crap. i started putting light truck tires on my trailers with excellent results.
With only about 1200 lbs. on each tire you won't need a lot of pressure.
Its to my understanding radials aren't so sensitive to pressure related wear.
I had always wondered about putting light truck tyres on my boat's trailer

Thanks for the thoughts. I'll try starting at 50 and see how it feels.
I ran LT truck tires on my enclosed and ran them at their rated pressure of 50 psi. It towed well and the tires dry cracked long before they wore out.
Goodyear recommends 10% over the max when running highway speeds with their radial trailer tires. Wear is not the issue-- heat generation is. I'd run any trailer tire at least at the max pressure.

10% over measured hot, or cold?

yup I run the toy hauler at max or 10% over dependent on speed but I'm at 9k to 12k. dependent on car or bikes in the back and if were hauling water or not (some places don't have water available).
