I am at my max right now. I currently have 7 cars, and only 2 of them are running. Hopefully it will soon be 6 cars with 3 running. I am good with a 50% ratio.

I assume incomes are self reported. Most self reported data tends to be a little off 
. It would be interesting to compare the income reported to GRM and the income reported to the IRS for the same cohort.
If you can pin point the demographic of a subscriber, I'm curious if the Message Boarder is the same.
Lotsa folks may get the magazine because they want diversity in their outer office, or they got it from a wife or girlfriend; but how different from the average subscriber are we really?

I like cars and own an old mustang. I am also a closet speed freak and I love to troubleshoot things. I haven't been able to find a good solution to speeding tickets though.
Sadly most of my racing will probably be on my xbox this year. :(
I would like to know the demo of the website visitors as well. I would be willing to bet that it is not too far removed from the magazine demo. I know I do all of my own work on my cars, I probably bring down the age range and the dollars earned a little, and I bring up the average amount of cars.

lets see, two years ago the balloon hadnt burst yet, or at least many hadnt felt the full effects, and the unemployment rate was more than half what it is now. itll be real interesting to see the next set of stats and how things affected the target demographics.

I posted the Q yesterday and this is the first time I've been back since then! Those stat's were exactly what I was asking for and I'm pretty certain that it backs up my assumption of the average reader Vs forum user.
I'd love to know what the demographics are for the forums users and I'd love to see how the distribution of cars Vs age vs income etc plays out.
As for me, as my age and income go up, my number of cars, $'s spent on mods and # of events seems to be tracking an inverse coloration.

Interesting, my experience has been the opposite.
I was in SUV's and pickups from the time I got out of college 'til I was 40. Didn't consider automotive a hobby since high school (had dirt bikes and ski boats in the meantime). My automotive interest was rediscovered when I got a new "performance car" as a dd/commuter, and realized the acceleration and grip were so high that had to take it to the track. I wasn't disappointed.
First track day - SOLD on a new hobby and pretty much monopolized my disposable income from then on. Dedicated track car, TT license, etc. have followed and I consider it a privilege to be part of the community.

Well I played with cars since I was 17 (can't drive until 17 in the UK) Initially it was Hillman Imps and derivatives, inc a Davrian race/kit car. Then a TR7 with a Dolomite Spring 16V engine, then a Manta GTE which I sprinted and Hillclimbed. I think I peaked at 7 or 8 cars at one time.
Then at 24 I moved to the US. Started with a FC Rx7, then a Mustang which was where the slippery slope started. Then came autocross and track days, a Miata, a road race Fiesta, tow vehicle etc.
Then came marriage and kids and things contracted. Every time I sold a toy to buy another the money got sucked up by family responsibilities, now I just have a DD. Now it's a really nice DD and we drove it on the Ring prior to shipping it back here. I'm not complaining, I choose to send my kids to private school, go on multiple vacations, live in a nice house etc. Once I have more time and disposable $$'s I'll have another toy. Probably a Miata, but right now I just don't have time to play with a toy, 3-5 autocrosses a year suck up what little time I have. I'm also less tolerant of harsh, loud cars so Street tire stock class suits me.

5+ years later, they have jobs/children which re-focuses attention and $$. Hopefully, most have the former (job)before the latter(child).

no pants here, i'm actually in the bathtub because i am recovering from some long tough work days while sporting a nasty case of bronchitis.
i make considerably less than the bulk of readers apparently, and have considerably more cars. and 100% less pants. i do wear pants in public though. nobody needs to see my bare ass. not pretty.
