Back in the day Dodge and Plymouth did very well with leaf springs and no control bars of any kind.

A panhard bar must be nearly level to prevent jacking and bump steer. You could use a Jacobs Ladder. The circle track modifieds use it almost universally.

Ultimate rear axle setup if you ask me...

Truck arms. Smooth ride, great handling, beefy, no wheel hop, good traction... and pretty easy to fabricate
