I have a fuel cell, never used, dating back to 2001 or so, and with the rise of E85, I'd like to repurpose this hunk of hollow aluminum before laying down $300 for a new one. New ones are also hard to find with 1/2npt fittings making a -12 feed line possible.
TIA!
PS- Fuel cell company is out of business so I can't go back to them.
If the can doesn't have a rubber liner then it's not really a fuel cell but a fuel tank. That being said I have seen fuel cell foam sold by any number of racing supply outlets.
It's as easy as going to a site like Summit Racing and doing a search for "fuel cell foam".

I did and when you plug in e85, it's one item. Plus it's $57 and I think I would need 2. Just want to make sure I'm not missing something or someone else.
Cell vs "tank", tomato vs tomato.

A fuel cell has a rubber bladder to keep the fuel from leaking out when the surrounding tank is deformed or penetrated in a crash. The tomato (vehicle occupant) is bruised but not fried.
Same crash no rubber bladder - fuel for a fire exits the tank and is available to ignite via hot parts, hot oil or other spark(s). The tomato (vehicle occupant) is ripe to be fried.
