It has been many years and with new time, come new ideas, anyone want to toss out ideas that I can use to update the bible for new and interesting racing quotes and themes. I know we did this a few years ago and it was based on running jokes of the challenge. I am hoping to get a more well rounded setup that covers all kinds of racing and motor events in the theme of bible quotes. And if nothing else, meybe we can come up with a new racers prayer that might get used somewhere. I am looking to make a book and offer it for sale with pictures I have taken. Everyone that posts a good quote will get noted in the front page by their GRM forum name. I have the old copy if someone knows a good place to post the text for everyone to read. I would like to go more for general quotes of over forum gags with out long explaining though. I am aiming this towards everyone at large. I am thinking of offering any money that is made to go a racing charity or safety group.

In autocross it isn't the fastest speed that wins, it is the fastest time. Sometimes you have to slow down to do better.

In rallycross, consistency is important, but that's hard to accomplish when the course is changing from run to run, so the driver best able to adapt wins.

The first mod a beginner should make to their car is more driver training. Tighten the nut behind the wheel.

Oversteer means you hit the wall with the back of your car,

Understeer means you hit the wall with the front of your car,

Horsepower is how fast you were going when you hit the wall,

Torque is how much of the wall you took with you.

(oldie, but goodie)

God grant me the serenity to accept the track conditions I cannot change, the courage to better my position where I can, and the wisdom to know when to lift.

As I stab the pedals at my feet, I pray it's traction that I'll keep.

And if I slide then I wont brake, I'll keep it floored and overtake.

Cross threads are better than no threads.

You have to finish first, to finish first.

Someone once asked me once how I got through a tricky offset slalom section as quickly as I had. I told him, "From the exit of the corner before, I just floored it, steered and let my life pass in front of my eyes. When I started first grade, I hit the brakes and prayed I would get through the right-hander at the end."

I stole the idea from something that I had read years before in a car magazine. I can't remember which magazine now.

"When a car is understeering, the driver is terrified. When a car is oversteering, the passengers are terrified....."

Stirling Moss, at the Corvair trial in the '60s. (I think)

The most important thing to do at your first autocross is learn to be safe. The second most important thing is to relax, have fun, and don't take the competition too seriously. No matter how fast or slow you are, I can assure you that no one in the Andretti or Unser families are shaking in their boots because you came to your first event.

Take the car to an event BEFORE you start spending money on modifying it

Slow hands, fast car.

Look where you want to go, which means DONT look at the cone, the barrier or the tirewall.

The further you look ahead, the faster you can go.

At my first auto-x I was given a piece of advice concerning picking up cones.

If you find yourself on the track staring at a car that's barreling down on you, stand still. The driver doesn't want to hit you and will turn to avoid you. If you juke left or right you've now made the chances of getting hit 50/50.

yeah …pick one direction … and RUN … hopefully in a direction that WON'T bring you closer to the drivers line

but whatever …. RUN

Never run out of real estate, traction, and ideas at the same time.
