Received an email from SPEEDSOURCE this morning, asking for me to call them for a "fly-in" position. Call them up, ask about prior experience and what knowledge I have. Conversation progresses to "we need the vent guy on our 2-car FACTORY LMP2 Team!!!"
E36 M3 I will do this!! Doing the 24 of Daytona, full season, and hopefully, LE MANS!!!! On my bucket list just to go, let alone to work on a team, let alone again to work for a Factory team!!!
Going to hear back this afternoon, but looking concrete!!

Awesome Duke. You're living it. Keep us posted.
WIN!
photos must be posted from all races.
That is awesome!
My only Speedsource story is a short one. I was down in their neck of the woods a few years ago for business. I ended up with a few spare hours on my hands, so I decided to stop by their shop, just to see it. After finally finding the business in an industrial park, I walked in the front door. Doing so basically put me directly into their front office. No reception desk, nothing! I guess they typically don't have fans stop by.
Anyway, after being asked what I needed, I explained that I was a big fan of the team, was in the area and just wanted to see the shop. A nice woman said "please wait a minute" and then walked off. Next thing I know, Sylvain Tremblay walks around the corner and says "Hi...I'm Sylvain. If you can wait a few minutes, I'll be happy to show you around."
Needless to say, I waited. Once he came back out, he spent at least 30 minutes of his time, walking me through all the areas of their shop. The engine dyno room, the chassis area, the body shop, we even toured one of their haulers! It was awesome.
I've been an even bigger fan of their team ever since!
Best of luck, Duke! I'm pulling for you!!
Very excited for you. Let us know how it goes!
Thanks guys. I should elaborate more. I'll be the "vent guy" during refueling. So, I jump over the wall, plug in my vent tube and wait for fuel to bubble up in my tube.
Any work in-between races?
nothing as of yet. In-between races and non-conflicting weekends, I'll be crewing on other stuff. So far, I have a Mazda Formula Atlantic I'm going to be doing fly-in stuff for in SVRA, World Challenge with the TTRS Audi. Think the Porsche Cup will be conflicting since they are the support series for ALMS/Grand Am/whatever the series is called now.
If I could travel I'd be working hard to chase opportunities like you have. Keep living the dream for us.
You are doing what I would love to do. I shall live vicariously through you, and work as a fueler during amateur enduros in the meanwhile :)
So... Does this mean you'll be moving outta Dallas?
Sounds like a hellovagig! See if they got any rotary parts they want to get rid of on the cheap since they are all big badass diesel powered now.
Can I ask the idiot question...how do you become the vent guy? What prior experience is necessary?
Sweet, if they need a sandwich guy keep us in mind.

And here as well. Congratulations!

No prior experience other than refueling cars in the paddock, but I've seen what you have to do and the only prior experience you need is "over the wall" experience, meaning you know what you're doing next to running race cars during a race
Great news! Your hard work is paying dividends.

This just means I get to continue to live vicariously through your exploits.
