So the Sony Assplode decided to become a paper weight the other day. Rather than replacing the faceplate fo$38.00 I decided it might be time to upgrade. I'm looking to spend $100 or less. This is a work truck, and I have hearing loss, so clarity and crispness are not high on my list.

I would like a CD player, MP3 capability, USB input, an axillary input or maybe, just maybe, Bluetooth so I can sync it with my phone.

What would you recommend? Were would you buy it from?

junk yard. they have dozens of them for $40. you can usually find one that has the same plug as your current one (usually same brand, but some cross over) and do the swap in the parking lot, if for no other reason to test it works.

its where every CD player ive ever owned has come from, and i have yet to have one fail me.

beware looking for the same plug: a lot of them use the same one, but they are wired differently.. could be as harmless as the wrong speakers getting the wrong signal or as fatal as the power and ground wires being mixed up. you can re-pin it if you have a small screwdriver...

i know it's a Sony that died, but i have nothing but good stuff to say for the Explod that i got for $120 at Wal Mart 5 years ago.. it plays MP3's off a thumb drive or my phone and has been in and out of 5 or 6 cars since i got it.. it also came with a set of 6" speakers that sounded great but i was too lazy to remove from the doors of the Cavalier that i first put it in when i sold it..

I got this neat jvc unit with the toyolla. Makes lots of colors. Plays CDs. Will do iPod, 3.5mm in, and USB. Saw its contemporary at Walmart for 72 bucks.

Go to Walmart. Pick one out. They have a slew of stuff under $100 that will get the job done and you know thy work. Or you can return them if they don't. I'm pretty sure you can find something for junkyard prices even.

I got a slightly used '12 model Excelon Kenwood off of fleaBay that does everything you want and then some for $60. I've been an Alpine fanboy for decades, but really didn't want to spend Alpine money for my Jeep. So far I'm pleased, Bluetooth streaming from my old Android phone is flaky on reconnect, and best as I can tell there's no mute button, but everything else is pretty phenomenal. The noise canceling microphone for the Bluetooth hands free calling even works in my noisy soft top Jeep.
