Looking to buy a karting helmet for the kid. No competition rules to adhere to, we just like spending time at the indoor rental track and are more comfortable with the idea of bringing our own helmets. I don't mind spending some money for safety here. Small kid (80 pounds) with small neck muscles. Most of my helmets have come from Bell, so I will probably start there but I seek the hive's wisdom.

Any suggestions?

No specific suggestion on brand, but check your local motorcycle parts store. They'll probably have motorcycle Snell helmets in stock which would cover if you ever did step out of rentals. Kids can be hard to fit, but being able to try a bunch of different helmets on will ensure comfort.

I just got my 11 year old son an HJC at the local motorcycle shop.  It was a 2021 model and was on sale because it had the old graphics.  It was $100.00.

He runs in the local junior electric kart league with it.  I have an HJC SA2020 helmet and have been happy with it thus far.  I always used bell's before ...
