In reading the post on Corner Carvers where the Vorschlag guys are swapping an Infiniti motor into an older Z car, I saw this statement.
Also, being an OHC motor it is allowed in Redline Time Attack events (they outright banned pushrod engines! haha. too high tech I guess?)
I didn't realize that Redline didn't allow pushrod motors! I guess that rules out entering such an event with my RX-7 LS1.
that is rediculous! there are plenty of AWESOME pushrod motors out there. I think there needs to be a racing series where anything is legal so long as it is safe. That rule set would be perfect for a time attack series.
Why would they ban pushrod engines? That doesn't make any sense given the quality of modern LS engines.
Unless it's a thinly-veiled attempt to keep domestics out of the mix?
I think that's what it is. No cheap V8s allowed, this is for imports.

That's frustrating since my car actually is an import, but now improved with a pushrod motor.
It's because LS1 FC's will blow them out of the water. Josh's stock LS1 into an FC makes 310rwhp and is a consistent FTD overall in autocross, including National's winning SS cars. That car on a road course would be even more devastating. Wimpy import guys are tired of losing.
Says the rotary-powered RX-7 owner/racer.
If only American cars matched up to import cars overall, eh?

I'll be joining Josh in the FC LS1 club very soon!
ZOMG! you should have put on a helmet, it would have prevented the mess when I just BLEW YOUR MIND!
pushrod ban is only in super lap battle. not RLTA.
OK I want to see a turboed 69 Firebird Sprint or a Northstar powered Vette take on the super lap battle.
