I know someone in the biz who looked into doing this. In the end, I believe it came down to liability (are these DOT-rated tires?) and business plan (will people pay enough to make the venture viable?).

Looks like I'm just going to go with the 185/55 which is available from a few online retailers. I was told over the weekend that US customs would destroy any imported tires that aren't DOT approved, if that's true what a drag. I'm hoping as supplies get back to normal more sizes will become available, but 14" tire demand is probably not very high.. le sigh

I saw those and got excited, but they're out of stock. 84FSP, I can run up to about a 185/55, I tried a 175/60 recently and it would've rubbed the quarter panel if I stuck with them, so sidewall size is a concern. When I built my wheels, I went a little wild with offsets because I wanted them to be nicely dished, which kinda shoots me in the foot for larger tires..

Aww man. That stinks. Sorry to hear that. Keep in mind that when you go wider you have to go shorter not taller but I looked and there is no 175/50/14 or 185/45/14 so that point is moot anyway.

Update on this: it looks like I might be able to have a friend send me tires from the UK, and maybe customs won't destroy them because they're not coming from a retailer or manufacturer, gonna try and iron out details tomorrow. If it works, I'll have him send me a small stockpile since  can store them in a climate controlled room..
