Finally got around to replacing the engine in my POS Grand Am. The clutch disc itself looks thin, but the pressure plate looks fantastic with no wear signs.
Any reason not to replace just the disc? besides not being able to find it separately.

Done it plenty of times, most recently in the Jensenator. As long as the flywheel and PP don't have those black and blue 'smeared' looking spots all over the face of them everything is finer'n frog fur.
A quick "resurface" of the flywheel and PP with a roloc disc is a good idea to avoid chatter and clean up imperfections.
when I did my clutch, the flywheel and PP looked great, still bought a new PP because as it gets older, the springs get weaker causing clutch slip, and i had my flywheel redone because why not. im always in the favor of, if your in there, get it all done. doing a clutch job twice is no fun...

Or just throw the disk in anyway.
On a pos beater, if it saves you a significant chunk of money and they flywheel and PP dont show any cracking or big hot spots, just hit the flywheel and PP with the whizzy wheel and throw it together.
just hit the fly wheel and PP with brake cleaner, and a quick hit with 600g on a DA and rinse with brake cleaner again. Done
I'd say it depends on why you are in there in the first place, and how long you plan to keep it. My answer is a lot of "ifs", so YMMV.
If you had it apart for something other than a clutch problem you can probably get away with a new disc and a good cleaning.
If it was due to slipping, chatter, or TB noise then I'd replace the disc, PP, throw out bearing and pilot bushing (if it has one).
If you plan to keep it a while I'd also replace it all. Everything will wear faster if you only put in a disc.
If it was mine, I'd replace it as a set. The time and aggravation to do it again, or the cost of having it fail on the road would outweigh any cost savings in my book.
