I think you may have nailed it. The advantages of a Kei car in Japan aren't present in the majority of the U.S.

Exact same idea as the Mk1 MR2. It's a sporty, city runnabout.

It would not take much to dominate that market in NA. I drove both thinking that they would bubble with agility commensurate with the small size. Truth is that both the iQ and the Smart have a chassis that is lubed with novacain.
