Oops.
I really thought someone would outbid me, but well, I guess they didn't, so now I own a Ford Escort LX-E with a salvage title in North Carolina. Problem is, I live in Pennsylvania, have nowhere to store the car (I may beg my dad for help with that part) and I don't know if I can afford to ship it.
Anyone in the Charlotte, NC area here with a truck and trailer?
I need to call Copart and figure out if they'll let me send a friend (read: someone I barely know through the internet) to pick the car up.

Nice work not posting the actual listing in your confession post. We're the only ones that would have bid against you on that.
In reply to Daylan C :
I posted it in the Radwood thread though!
This was a weird one, it previously showed a $150 bid and then the auction date was moved back a few days, and that reset the bid to a lower amount somehow, so I swooped in and threw $150 at it yesterday, and nobody in the live auction bid against me.
It's small and cute and supposedly runs and drives, so it should be easy to load it on a trailer I hope.
EDIT: Nope it only says "engine start program" I thought it said run and drive. Double whoops.
In reply to slowbird :
That's actually pretty solid and something I would have bought if it wouldn't mean the same problem you currently have.
I check my schedule and see
willing to go
I found the listing in the RadWood thread. The car is in China Grove
In reply to BrotherDallas :
Thanks! Send me a PM or just reply here once you look at your schedule and we can discuss it further.

Yup, which I guess is north of Charlotte. I'm pretty close to Pittsburgh, PA so it's a bit of a hike. I will pay to cover expenses, of course. (Hoping to get it home for less than the $767.05 shipping quote from Copart.)
That thing looks totally driveable. Is it?
In reply to Dusterbd13-michael :
I swear I thought it said "run and drive" on Copart but now it says "engine start" so I don't know if they changed it. I would not assume it can be driven safely without further inspection. I would like to think it could at least drive onto a trailer.
In reply to slowbird :
This Jacksonville based guy moved a Prius for me from Ohio to Illinois at a reasonable price. If you can get the car off Copart property quickly then reach out to him and see what he would charge.
This is a cheap time of year to get a car moved North. Lots of snowbirds sending cars south but nothing really coming north.
I am betting it will drive straight. They might have noticed some rubbing when turning the wheel or the tire went flat. They will change from "run and drive" to just "engine start" for that.
The Xterra I won a while back wasn't a run and drive until it got a bit of modification via a sawzall to remove some sheet metal from the tire well.
If you're going to the Pitt area, I don't think you'll be heading East, but If you guys need a hand, Duster has my phone number.
If brother Dallas or Michael pick it up and can't store it, I'm about an hour and a half away from Michael and I've got room to park it. Looks like it could probably be fixed up good enough to drive back to PA pretty simply.
In reply to untchabl :
Awesome, that would be a big help as well.
If I had any vacation days left for this year I'd probably be scheming a way to go down and drive it home, but I don't and Copart is closed weekends. Just getting it out of their lot before the storage fees kick in is my primary goal. After that, the rest is just minor details.

Brother Dallas for President!
Ugh it's such a pain dealing with Copart's payment rules sometimes. I can't use my debit card because it's expired, ok so pay off a credit card so I can use that, wait that wasn't the credit card on file with Copart, how do I add or change my card on file...don't know, email support, no response yet. I might have to go to the bank tomorrow and do a wire transfer.
I'm going to call that guy in Jacksonville and what he says.
Send me your phone number. I'll talk you through the shipping.

Wire transferred the payment to Copart with a little extra for the impending storage fees (they start kicking in tomorrow)
Still need to figure out how to get it off their lot in the next few days. Maybe stow it in someone's extra parking spot for a couple weeks. Then I might be able to come get it myself or schedule a transport.
Brother Dallas is out. His work picked up considerably and as he is self-employed we can't really turn it down. I've only got the ability to flat tow. And I don't have any time off of work that I can use this week.
In reply to Dusterbd13-michael :
Understood, not a problem. Thanks for the attempt.
In reply to slowbird :
I'd find a self storage nearby and hire a local tow company to take it there. Shouldn't cost more than a couple hundred. I've done this before, it's kinda funny how helpful people are when you're paying them to do things over the phone.
Slowbird, I may be able to help out and pick it up first thing Friday morning. It's probably a 2.5-3 hour drive each way but I might can make the time. Send me an email with your phone number and I'll call you.
