My 2012 VW used to have the function of unlocking the doors when you had the key in your pocket and touching the door handle, it would lock with a swipe on the handles g-spot.

After I got in an accident and the battery died while getting repaired this function does not work. I have to hit the key fob buttons to lock and unlock.

I have a first world problem and I want it fixed.

Any clue? I tried the key fob reset in the owner's manual but it did not fix my issue and it specifically is not mentioned in the manual. I think it just re-tuned the fob buttons to the car, not the proximity.

Did they put the correct handle on the car, do a relearn, and connect the wiring?

Sounds like a warranty issue the shop needs to address.

Door handles were never touched. Onl;y the hatch, so maybe that can be it.
