The things that Google sends me...
Cool eye candy. The article seems to have been edited but when I first saw this story last night it said this is a $80k conversion on top of the cost of a Tahoe ($50k?)

I applaud the work that went into them, it appears to be well done. However.... With all the work that went into the retro styling, they kinda look like the worst parts of each. Or maybe I'm just hung up on the look down shot of the rear and how goofy it makes them look. The front looks somehow pinched, that's just the word that comes to mind. Then again, they do look better than the blah Tahoe that they started as so at least it's an improvement.

the slope of the windshield is the main issue for me.
If not those very Tahoes, I've seen a similar conversion at the Autorama show in Detroit last year or the year before. I thought it was kinda neat, not that I would spend that kind of money to be different.

That is always the problem on this type of thing.
I can't put my finger on the exact styling issue I have but... it looks like a cartoon dog/duck head?
As for me, I think it's hideous. For half the price you could just get a nice-condition original one and drop a modern drivetrain and custom interior into it. And it wouldn't look idiotic like these do.
One problem with it is the dimensions of the nose and tail are still closer to original body than the newer one. It is thing like the height of the body from the sills to the bottom of the side windows. The Tahoe has a lot more metal there than the old blazer did. So, while they did a decent job blending the old face into the hood, you can't fix the height mismatch without making something look off.
Why use a 68 front clip when the K5 started in 1969? And the rear 1/4 panel is not blended into the rest of the body nearly well enough, it's clear where the replacement part is. It kinda reminds me of those 1949 Ford/90s Thunderbird things, or the Mercedes 600 grille conversions from the 1980s.
They just look off to me and I just can't quite put my finger on why. It might be marginally better if they painted the whole thing one color instead of making it so completely obvious which parts are the original Tahoe and which were added on.

Or just get a $500 XJ Cherokee and spend 10K on wheels, tires, suspension and accessories.
Not as bad as the Belaro but it seems we're all on the same page here.

Why not start with a Suburban and just call it a retro kitted Suburban? Trying to mix the K5 and Tahoe just doesn't work. The K5 never had 4 doors and the Tahoe wasn't around back then. The quality looks good in pictures, but the windshield angle is all off.
I'd rather just buy a new one and do a retro paint job like this and maybe some trim work.
