What are so truly over the top colors that cars have been painted over the years?
I can think of Mopar Limelight, In Violet, Moulin Rouge, that orange they had (what is that called), the green and orange Lambo has used recently. What else have we got?
My trucks carpet us supposed to be tan, but its red after working here five years. Does that count?
The metallic coppery orange or orangey copper they've been painting cars is inexcusable.
Oh thought of another one.

You mean like this.
Here's the 2005 version of that color. I like it though.
Technoviolet and Daytona Violet on the E36 M3 make up for Phoenix Yellow on the E46.
I'm a big fan of the M&M/Smurf colors. I love Laguna Seca Blue, Mariner Blue, Grabber Blue.
SWMBO and I had a talk about this lately, how she is attracted to nail polish colors (pearls, metallics) and I am attracted to lipstick colors (solid and bright).
aside from Bubblegum pink... I can't think of any colour on a car I would not drive.. and I might drive the pink too. We have come a long way since Henry Ford told people they could have the car in any colour.. as long as it was black

Holy berkeley I hate Phoenix Yellow on the E46 M3. I would vote that worst color EVER!
Now if someone gave me an E46 M3 in that color I would somehow learn to tolerate it.
Ford Sunrise Red was pretty over the top. None of my friends wanted to ride in my Escort GT that was that color.
I like the Spirited Green on my Mazda 2. The wife hates it however.

In about 2001-2002 Honda had that yellow/ gold colour that was in some of the civic si commercials. I think it was a little worse.
My Mustang came in a really weird green called Legend Lime. There's even a registry/club on line for those who were stupid enough to order their car in that color.
The last few years of range rovers have come in some pretty weird colors. It's a $15k option though so not too common.

Nitro Yellow-green. Google NYG Neon.

I agree. It's disgusting.
How about VW Vapor. I love that color, but it seems super rare as I almost never see it, but when I do I love it. VW had some really cool colors over the years. Harlequin is not one of them though.
Also Competition Yellow Mica or CYM in the RX-7 world is a great color. The only RX-7 aside from the 79 model year cars that came in yellow from the factory. My guess is there is a lot less of the Series 6 yellows than the series 1 cars.

1984 RX7 GSL-SE in Persimmon circa 1994
A few years ago, Mazda had a color on their "B" series pickups, that Ford never used....at least not on Rangers. However, the same shade of brown is now being used on "F" series pickups. It looks sort of like a rootbeer metallic that had a "spot" of cream dropped in it.
In the mid '90s, Ford had a color on the 2nd gen. Probes, and I believe on some T-Birds that looked like the color of a part of the female anatomy seen only by some doctors. It was called Peach and didn't last very long.
Sorry I have no examples to post.
Toyota had a color in the 80's called Terracotta. it's horrible.

Put that color on a 911 and I'm deadly sirius.
