Aw, man. That guy was bad ass.

I had a chat with him and his son in line at In-n-Out burger once. He seemed pretty down to earth. RIP.

He was my local Ford dealer back in the day , 

and loved his Big Oly Bronco :)

A lot of drivers from his generation didn't make it to old age.  To make it to 90... impressive.   It's not like they were not smoking, drinking, and only eating a Mediterranean diet.

He was one of the guys I paid attention to when I first started watching races. Along with Gurney and Foyt.

One of those guys who raced everywhere in everything.

There is a reason why Indy essentially outlawed turbines...
