So I'm headed over to the Chevy dealer Saturday morning when I spy this for sale at the side of the road
Doubled back to take a look. Is it for real? Does it run? IS IT CHALLENGE PRICED?!?
Looks quite complete. Its a 1974 w/AMC 360 engine. "Belted T/A's" say it hasn't been on the road in many, many years. Sadly Autotragic. ( guess they only made a few 4 speeds in '74. All later cars were auto only)
I saw the $9500 price tag and bailed before anyone saw me. No idea if it runs or what shape it's in underneath.
1 mile down the road, Chevy dealer had 3 2015 Z/28's in the showroom. All I needed was a dipstick tube much to their dissappointment. It was a strange day in New Hudson, MI. A tiny spec on the map 45miles outside of Detroit.
Ah the Bricklin, Gullwing doors and all. Build quality not job one.
I believe they were only made for three years.
My son had one for awhile. I did drive it about 100 miles. Nothing to report.
Neat.
That's all I got...
Every one that I've seen has either been that color or white.
Theres in interesting story behind the design on the briklin and the DeLoreans, meaning its the same design, look it up I cant remember the story. But what ill never forget is the guy who did the bricklin made it to be a "saftey" car hence the bright colors for visibility, easily replacible plastic body panels and the best part, a thumpin v8 (at the time) for safety. .something like he wanted people to merge safely not to have a fast car.
Talk him down to $8,000. Write a For Sale ad with "barn find" in the header and resell for $13,000 on Craigslist.
I wonder if her has enough rear tire on that thing?

A friend has one in his garage he bought from the AMC/Bricklin dealer in town. For $3k he got the car and the dealer sign. He's only driven it a few times because it's such a box of fecal matter. He got trapped in it when it stalled at a light and the battery went dead trying to start it. No battery, no doors, and he couldn't get enough leverage to open the doors and get out. Finally, someone took pity on him, and released him from his plastic prison.
They were built near where I grew up, so there are a decent number around. The company that made and painted the body panels is now part of a company that makes fiberglass pipe. The pipe is much higher quality than the cars.
The main Saint John plant is now home to a fire hydrant supplier.

Maybe your friend should have offered 3,500 for the sign without the Bricklin.

I think I know the owner of the Bricklin. Nothing more to add.

If it was thumping that must have been a rod bearing knock because they were pathetic as far as power was concerned - 165 bhp. Of course the Corvette only had 190 - 250 optional, so they were bad days indeed if you wanted to be able to spin your tires.

The guy who did Bricklin was Bricklin.
There is a safety green one I owned for a couple months still sitting in the garage I unloaded it into in Illinois. I know where a decent orange one is completely stock but also $9k(even though it shows up in the Bricklin clubs books as a salvage car) near Aussiesteves place.
They are junk and while I'd buy another one I wouldn't wish it on anyone else lol.
