By this evening, someone will own one more turbocharged rotary-powered Mazda Miata than they had in the morning. That rotary Miata build you've started reading about in the magazine is being auctioned off today. Remember, all proceeds from this auction will be donated to Carly's education fund. You didn't tell us the purchase came with a 10 year subscription to GRM.
Somebody may be getting quite a bargain. It's been stuck at 10K for quite a while and there's only 20 minutes left.
Or does it work like Ebay where everyone saves their best bid for the last second?
I believe BaT has a mechanism to avoid sniping - the clock resets to 3 minutes or so after each bid. But most of the action will take place near the end.
IF that goes for 10K I hope that they just donate the $$$$ to the fund and give the car to Carly.
Final sale was $11K to a buyer who knows the story and intends to run it in hillclimbs in Mike's name. Fair price to the right person, which counts for a lot.

11k seems like a pretty good buy. Glad the winner is planning on using it for its intended purpose.
rotary... miata... hillclimbs... knows the story...
Did Estey just buy another berking car?!?!?! haha.
I just got off the phone with the winning bidder.
Guess what? It's IMSA racer Jeff Mosing! In addition to buying the Miata and competing with it, Jeff said he's also planning to donate an additional $4000 to Carly's college fund.
Thanks, Jeff!
Even without the $4k donation, it still went for more than a nice '95 FM II in Laguna Blue.
