So we found out today that my girlfriends 12a has at least 2 blown apex seals.
She wants to know if she should rebuild the 12a or find a 13b to swap in. Power goals are 175-220whp.

12As are essentially unrebuildable anymore. Most of the parts that are needed if you wait until it blows are NLA.
Yeah i know wear theres a pair of junk 12A's becausr the guy couldnt find parts anymore. Hes not going 13b but hes tired of tracking down 12A parts.
I went 13B about seven-eight years ago. 2mm seal rotors are simply better in every way and Mazda never made 2mm seal l2As, only 13Bs. The apex seals are more housing friendly and definitely more RPM friendly, side seals have less friction, 12 rotor gear pins vs. 9 pins makes the stresses on the gears a lot lower so you don't need the super awesome hardened stat gears or pinned/circlipped rotor gears... It's just a better situation all around.
Is there any good reason to pull a running 12a and sell it to go 13b? Mine works fine for now but I'm aware that if it breaks it's a coffee table.
