So I want a list of RWD hatchbacks. I love hatchbacks, and I love rear wheel drive cars. The lighter the better, but the better looking is always a major plus.
FASTBACKS DO NOT COUNT!
So far I have:
Starlet
Chevette
///M Coupe
With an engine in the way:
Clio V6
Renault Turbo 5
Other than that I'm pretty stumped. Everything else seems to be a fastback. Help me out, a Starlet is a pretty ugly car. Cool and capable definitely, but it's no E-Type (which is a fastback BTW).

200sx, supra, 79-93 Mustang, Isuzu Impulse, 240/280/300ZX, Pinto, Vega, Gremlin, Merkur XR4Ti, Starion/conquest, corolla AE86, Mazda GLC, RX7.
I was always under the impression that a fastback looks similar to many hatch backs, but instead of a hatch, the glass is fixed to the body and the car has a standard opening trunk.
I think of a hatchback as the ultimate use of space.
The Mazda GLC and Gremlin both qualify, everything else just looks like a car without a trunk. I guess I really want a short RWD wagon. Anything else qualify under that ruleset?

Volvo 1800ES, Pinto wagon, AMC Pacer
MGB GT is close.
82-02 Camaros and Firebirds.. they are actually fairly light for something with an optional V8 engine if you leave out useless options like power windows or locks and AC..
78-? Olds Cutlass hatchbacks..
71-74 Chevy Nova and the BOP clones could also be had in hatchback form.
I consider a first gen rx-7 to be hatchback.
^^^ Why just the 1st generation? They all were the same throughout their run.

Contrary to your statement, the 1978 Old Cutlass Salon and Buick Century have a fixed rear window and below that have just a standard trunk with no pass through from trunk to interior - fastback.

MkII Capri ('74-'77, IIRC)
Hyundai Pony for those in Canada
Opel Kadett wagon. Yea, it's a wagon, but it's got a hatch and it's not bad looking.
AMC had a number of these things, Spirit/Hornet based.
The term you are looking for is "shooting brake":
There is a whole collection HERE.
And don't forget the SHOGun:
Or the Volvo P1800 Wagon. (the image below does not represent a stock car IIRC)
