I need to purchase a scan tool that can also run diagnostics, specifically on the fuel system, for my 128i.  Any recommendations?

I have the one the ECS sells. They label it as Schwaben, but it's basically a Foxwell NT510 with the BMW software preloaded from what I can see. It's been decent enough for what I've needed, but I haven't had occasion to use it on the fuel system. If you tell me exactly what you're trying to do I'll see if I can figure it out on mine.

It is in no start and I have narrowed down to fuel.  From what I can tell, you can run a diagnostics on it to determine which component is faulty.  Fuel pump, EKPS module, etc., it would be nice to know before I go buying and throwing parts at it.

Plus, having an older BMW, it never hurts to have a good scanner!  laugh

Yes, you can certainly scan the components for faults. I will have to plug mine in to tell you exactly which ones. I should be able to do it tonight. Stay tuned.

I love the Scwaben tool for BMW stuffs. Also can load additional programs on it as well.

It looks to me like you can scan the system for faults and run active tests on the fuel pump at different pressures, as well as on the evap system from the tank. I think it should be comprehensive enough to help you narrow down the problem. If you do get it, be sure to update the software - the last time I did it it opened up additional test options, as well as speeding up general operations.

Not sure of budget, but my company is selling off their old scan tool (Maxisys MS908) to upgrade to new Maxisys Elites.

MS908s with all the associated cables/case/etc for $1500. Most have active subscriptions for now, but they still function and are used every day for the time being and currently updated through 2021 MY. Once subscription expires, it just won't be able to scan stuff that hasn't received updates for.

I know they are capable of viewing anything you'd need for diagnostic purposes, and can also write the injector values etc if those need replaced (though I think that was an N54/55 thing? Maybe not on the N51/52).

We have to keep on top of brand new cars for ADAS calibrations so it makes more sense for us to sell them off and buy new every 2 years when subscriptions expire.

If you need one, shoot me an email at Tony dot Mester @ wandm sales USA dot com.

You'll need to log in to post.
