This is the vehicle in question. He has asked me to help him sell it. He just drove it from south Jersey to Connecticut today and is headed back tomorrow. The body is much better than I had expected. Leather interior, third row seat, new starter, no check engine light. 5.3 LS, four wheel drive.

I hadn’t looked that closely at it at that point. If I had more time, I’d buy it myself for a fix and flip.
Great deal, but that is too nice to be my challenge engine donor!
(And I don't have to explain to my wife why I'm driving home with an SUV from new York again).

I'd contemplate a fly & drive, to flip that in Wisconsin. That's easily a $4000 truck, here. $3500, at least.
