I don't think that people were ever more understanding. They were just too lazy to go home and write a letter to each and every person on earth. Now, as soon as someone thinks something - the whole internet gets it with no filter or perspective.

And it's not like there are companys out there that will bombard your 3rd party listings with 5 star reviews if you pay them. Oh, wait, I just talked to one of them on the phone, never mind.

I guess I let myself be one of those "a little knowledge is a dangerous thing" examples. In their attempts to manage expectations, they told me on arrival that it'd be 1:00 to 1:15 to install a rear view mirror. Knowing the general case of mirror installation (not the specific case of a Subaru auto-dimmer with compass), that sounded like it consisted 80% of them being sloppy with scheduling. I think I was already finding them suspect because they also seemed to be discussing budgeting time for installing the cargo organizer, which consisted of opening a rear door and setting the package on the seat...

In the end everything is fine. I'm glad that via this board I've learned that dealerships get unnecessarily pounded for any survey response that isn't "OMG Five (billion) stars everything was PERFECT AND they gave me a pony!"

The overall experience of buying and going back didn't leave me overly enamored of the place, but it was fine and I don't feel they deserved the punitive measures a "meh" survey would get them...

What an insane system.
