Skid Plate Racing @ Irwindale 5/3/14

So ran in another skid plate event last weekend. Was fun until a problem with the alternator took me out of the race before it even started. Car ran fine in qualifying but while waiting our turn to go on track my car stalled and would not turn over. Jumped the car and left it charging hoping for the best but once I got moving again the car just couldn't make it. Not ideal, but I'll be back for the next one.

Oof! Sucks when something simple ends your day. I was on my way to the Thursday night drags a few weeks ago when the alternator on my Fiero died and stranded me. Never made it to Irwindale that night!

Also, hey! Nice to see someone local on here. I work a short distance from Irwindale Speedway. I'll have to make it out to the races sometime. That skidplate racing looks like fun. Come over and say hi if you see me in my Fiero at an autocross or track day!

Yeah - super frustrating! First thing I did when I got back was work on adding a battery gauge because had I had one, I would have noticed the car was running off of battery and maybe could have done something.

Likewise, I'll definitely keep an eye out for your car. Next race is on the 17th, should be a crazy night actually - highly recommend. Also, the guy who helps me with my car, Robert Rice has rentals for pretty cheap if you ever want to give it a try.

Sorry you missed it! It was a lot of fun, went well. The Enduro race was crazy. They went with a new course design, I think designed to keep the speeds down for safety but it ended up being probably a little too tight.
