Its a Vanagon. I don't think the pickup version was sold in the US.

I think I remember reading that the transporter crash was a set up. Apparently they put weight in the bed to exagerate the crash damage. I still wouldn't want to be in one that hit a wall though.

My sister used to hang with the old volks club and those old ones are really dangerous. My sister is missing a tooth b/c the seat locks in the 64 bug were junk.

If you drive any car into a brick wall at 70mph you a going to die. Try that in a crx and see what happens. It is only more exciting b/c the car is so small. Look at the physics of the crash before coming to a conclusion. I'd say try that with any new car and see what happens.

I heard for the VW vid they loaded up the thing full of weight and the truck was rusty? It was a test of a new crash barrier or something.

Not necessarily. I hit a rock formation and my Escort came away like the second car they crashed and aside from a collection of broken bones and bruises I made it through alive.

I got hit head-on on the interstate in my SC-2. Scared the poo out of me but we were okay.

I stuffed a 93 MR2 into a rock at about 50mph and took a lethal blow to my pride. No injuries other than a suede-burn on my arm from the aftermarket steering wheel. Car was totalled.

My brother got T-boned by a loaded dump truck at 50mph in his Saturn SC2 and came away with nothing but a scratch. The car was tossed through the air like it wasn't even there.

Luck has a lot to do with it.
