The air suspension has a desiccant bag filter thing that needs to be changed about once a year. Most people don't do this, and then the pump dies, or a solenoid sticks which also burns out the pump.

We had an 8.1 4wd LT. Yup on the brake lines but was a really really good vehicle for us. Comfortable and very capable tow monster!
I've got a 2002 2500 and it has been reliable and great with one notable exception - the crank position sensor. Apparently they often go bad after years of use, and often break while trying to replace them. In my case (and many others), that meant the transmission had to be removed to retrieve the broken part (a big job, not easily done in the driveway).
Personally, I really like its many different configurations (removable back window, bed cover panels, mid tail gate, etc.), and I've never felt like it was hard to see out back. Towed my 24' enclosed trailer no problem. I didn't really want 4WD, but that has been handy to have several times.
