My absolute dream job came up last year and I threw my hat in the ring to see what happens. Turns out I made it through the vetting process and got selected for an interview on Thursday. Hoowee, I've never been this nervous for an interview. This particular position is a government employee one as the International Raceway is also a City Park. My cherry on top was my 4+ years of experience as a Flood Control Zone District Supervisor as this particular facility is built on top of the ruins of a flooded city...

Slick! Best of luck!

I interview horribly, yet I can talk to a crowd without fear. I don't get it really.

GLWS!

At least I see it as selling yourself to the audience (interviewers). Hope they don't ask any totally berkleeyed up questions trying to trip you up. I had a guy ask me once what I would do if I was giving a presentation & an audience member threw an egg at me. I honestly asked him WTF? It did give me time to change my answer from "chase that mother berkeleyer down and beat his @ss" to "turn my back to him so the audience wouldn't have to see the egg on my clothes during the rest of the presentation". Luckily, I did not get that job... smiley

Is this Portland Int'l?

Good luck. I'm kind of surprised that track has lasted so long in city limits. Hope it sticks around!

"Is that the sort of thing that is likely to happen in this company?"

Or were you auditioning for a role as a stand-up comedian?

Good luck Javelin. Although I'm a little concerned about the "built on the ruins of a flooded city" bit, I've seen Poltergeist...

I hope it sticks around, too! It's an amazing facility that offers a lot. It's going to be a big job.

Dude that's rad! Good luck at the interview!

Your description of PIR is so ominous, even if it's accurate, haha.

In reply to Keith Tanner :

Yes to question #1. No to question #2.

Job was for a gov't agency & included making presentations to the general public about projects. Some projects did not have community support or adversely impact some community members property. About a year prior, they had started requesting a police presence at those presentations due to a few "incidents".

Yes, it did. A power surge took out one of the eleven pump stations control boxes (and all three sets of surge protectors) which shut the pumps off. I figured out the issue and ran the pumps manually. It ended up being a $55,000 emergency repair. But yeah, it's flood control, not flood ain't gonna happen.
