What captures me is driving it. The handling is something that I can appreciate all the time it is moving, not only when you are breaking the law. I keep cars for ten years, six to go.

One of the things I don't get about the FRS/BRZ is why not select a larger displacement engine? I wonder the same thing about the ND. They could have just as easily used the company 2.5L instead of the 2.0L. It wouldn't have cost the manufacturer more. Maybe the radiators would have been sized slightly differently. Additionally, should they have wished to tune the engine differently, the overall fuel cost is probably lower with a 2.5L on 87 than with a 2.0L on 91.

I'm about to start messing with the Edelbrock E-Force blower for the car at work. Stuff it full of sensors, put it on the track, and see what happens. With the warranty Edelbrock provides, it may be an attractive option to some people since it addresses the biggest shortcoming of the car.

Well, for driving back and forth to work I picked up a nice 2012 MINI Cooper S. That still leaves a bunch of money for a more dedicated toy. I'm pondering the future of the '93 Miata to either spend more money on it, or sell it and get a better toy. There may be a MR2 Spider in my future, or a maybe a '99 Miata or a Mazdaspeed Miata.

As for the MINI, I had an '06 R53 and missed it, so I found the nicest late model R56 that I could. I drove a bunch of different cars before I decided on another MINI though, including cars like an IS350, FJ Cruiser, Land Rover and several BMWs. Of the BMWs, one was a Z4 M Coupe, but in the end it was between the MINI and a 2012 128i. The deciding factor was pretty much that my wife liked the MINI better.

On the Land Rover, it was an Evoque, and it was much better than I expected. My wife thought it was cute but it turned out to drive really well. I didn't buy it but it would not be difficult to have talked me into it. And typically I do not care for SUVs.
