Those are very cool-looking cars. Technically crappy cars - it's a VW Beetle underneath - but very cool-looking.

From the look of the dash, I wonder if it's LHD/RHD swappable.

Last time I checked you could get a Jdm ej20 twin turbo for $500. That plus a call to megasquirt and Kennedy engineering and you have 240 or so horses ready to go

I would keep it aircooled for convenience. Type 4 engine bored out to 2.3 liters with either fuel injection or dual carbs and a 911 style fan shroud to make it look pretty and help it sound mean

Pst.... wheel base is within 1/2 inch of an 818....that will fix the bug chassis issue.

Though i said it's a death trap, i still have a place for it in my want list. Awesome looking car, i do want one if i came across one at a right price

Megasquirt is awesome, but when it comes to Subaru, I'd do a Carberry ROM. No contest.

Also, if the EJ20 twin turbo is available for $500, I may buy one on general principles.

I'd like to know how they managed to squeeze 350bhp w/o Nawwwss out of that "Porsche flat four" that looks awfully like a VW type 4 engine that may or may not be from a 914. Just adding Webers isn't going to do that.
