Then about a month later said it wouldnt stay running and ran poorly in general.
Do I drive out to apopka to bring the car back. Tops ripped, parked outside. No water in the intercooler or radiator. Check engine light flashes all the way home.
Pull codes p0300, p0303. 02 code, evap code.
pull the plug on #3 and I see this.
took the threads with it on the way out. Im not in a good mood. Im sure the head is trashed.....

My fiancee's sister's car died on 675 w/ my fiancee in attendance. I came to the rescue as any Knight would. Had it towed to my favorite garage.
It had no oil.
Do they make timeserts for miatas. Worked on my f150 when it ejected a spark plug.

When I lent my P71 to my sister, she sold it. Actually that was the point....
Sounds like sis gets to buy you some parts and labor to put the car back the way it was before you loaned it to her.
This is one of those things that happens in family that you can't just let drop, it has to be corrected.
It also goes without saying that you should never, ever loan/give her anything anymore.
That is unforgivable (if she doesn't at least apologize and front you some cash to make it right.)
As my very wise friend says "no one f's you like family".
Oh ya. And she just married a felon! She is so smart. My dads gunna see abkut compression if he has time. Funeral and all. Real bad week.
hopefully the threads can be fixed.
The big question is. Should I keep the m45 on it, try and get an mp62, or go turbo?
Not really gunna race it anymore. Just gunna be a really fun driver. Hopefully funds wiol be around 4k. Gotta rebuipd the engine and trans anyway. Maybe throw a 3.9 lsd on it. Im just a little spoiled with the instant boost thing.
Shouldn't be too hard to fix that thread.
I'd go with a Voodoo II turbo if I were you. Heck, I did exactly that years ago on my wife's car. She thought she'd miss the supercharger, but she bonded with the turbo in about 15 minutes.
Im sure u would keith:-p
funna shy away from kits unless used. Got a few other things to replace. Im a big fan of a s16g as well. But i know nothing of turbos
Just pray the rest of the head is ok.

If you're looking at the m62, what about the tvs1320? Seemed to make very good power in the s/c gm crowd.

I'm in the enviable position of being able to change things if I don't think they're the best. So yes, I would. And don't discount the amount of engineering and evolution that goes into a kit.

The TVS1320 is awfully big for a 1.6 or even a 1.8. Wouldn't be my first choice.
How do you get that kind of oxidation inside the combustion chamber?

Please see my previous post in this thread...
Are you running a water to air intercooler setup?
Yes I am swank. Its an old build, before the air to airs and mp62s even came out.
And the car sat for a long while after it melted. So it rusted fairly quick. Sure the headfasket is gone as well.
I wasnt trying to offend you keith, I just dont see having a budget for a new kit after everything else gets foxed.
You're a nice guy for helping your sister out, went above and beyond the call. Let the felon buy her a car, get the Miata back and SBC it.
See, we got all the answers.
Small Block Chevy.
If $4k is your total budget including rebuilding the engine and trans, I'd be visiting a junkyard for a decent pullout.
How does that kind of damage happen in just one month on a 'good car'?
Don't know that I'd blame her...

Also this. That mess of a plug didn't happen suddenly.
